The Legislative Council Security Panel now invites public views on the ˇ§Fourth and Fifth Reports of the People's Republic of China under the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment - Part Two : Hong Kong Special Administrative Regionˇ¨.
The report is the second periodic report of the HKSAR under the Convention. It updates the Committee Against Torture on developments of Hong Kong since the submission of the initial report and also responds to the Committeeˇ¦s Concluding Observations of May 9, 2000 on the initial report and the subsequent comments of local observers on the implementation of the Convention in Hong Kong.

Interested parties are invited to submit their written views to the Panel Clerk (preferably in both Chinese and English) by Saturday, November 25, 2006 and indicate whether they intend to make oral representations to the Panel at its meeting to be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at 2.30pm in Conference Room A of the Legislative Council Building. Submissions received will be made available to the media and the public and uploaded onto the website of the Legislative Council unless advised otherwise. Those who wish to attend the aforesaid meeting are requested to send in their particulars, including their names, organisations represented (if applicable), contact telephone and fax numbers.
