Temporary traffic and transport arrangements at Pennington Street and Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay (with photo)

    The Transport Department today (October 27) announced that to facilitate resurfacing works at Pennington Street and Yee Wo Street, temporary traffic and public transport arrangements would be implemented from about 1am to 10am on Sunday (October 29). The arrangements are as follows:

Road closures and traffic diversion:

     Pennington Street north of Irving Street, Yee Wo Street westbound between Pennington Street and Jardine's Bazaar, and Yee Wo Street eastbound east of Pennington Street (outside Regal HK Hotel) will be closed.

    Vehicles on Causeway Road westbound and vehicles on Leighton Road eastbound heading for Hennessy Road westbound will be diverted via Jardine's Bazaar (only for vehicles of height not exceeding 3.2 metres). Other vehicles of height over 3.2 metres and buses will be diverted via Leighton Road, Morrison Hill Road and Tin Lok Lane.  Vehicles heading for Yee Wo Street eastbound will be diverted via Leighton Road, Morrison Hill, Tin Lok Lane and Hennessy Road eastbound.

     Motorists are advised to pay attention to the traffic signs and directions of the Police.

Bus route and GMB service diversion:

     NWFB Routes 2A, 2X, 8, 8P, 23, 23A, 25, 26, 38, 42, 65, 81, N8; CTB Routes 5, 5B, 8X, 10, 11, 25A, 25C, 72, 72A, 76, 77, 92, 96, 592, E11, N72, N8X; XHT Routes 108, 112, 116, 914, 962, 968, 969, N122, N619, N680, N962, N968, N969 and GMB routes 40, 56, 69 which operate along the affected roads will be temporarily diverted.

     In connection with bus routes diversion, suspension and relocation of bus stops will be implemented by bus companies. Public transport operators will put up notices to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

     Members of the public going to the affected areas are advised to use public transport and avoid driving into the areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. The public should watch out for the latest traffic news through radio broadcasts.
