The Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of the Trade and Industry Department will hold an SME seminar on the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Bill next Thursday (October 19).
The Unsolicited Electronic Messages Bill is expected to enact very soon. The primary objective of the Bill is to combat unsolicited commercial electronic messages and to set the ground rules for sending such messages so that the wishes of the recipients can be respected and realised and, at the same time, leave room for the development of normal business activities.
Speakers of the seminar, Head of Information and Communications Technologies of the Office of the Telecommunications Authority, Mr Henry Chang; and eMarketing Consultant of Radica Systems Ltd, Mr Leo Lau, will explain details of the proposed Bill and the likely timetable of implementation, as well as advice on how SMEs should get themselves prepared for the consequential impact or changes particularly in the course of eMarketing.
The seminar will be held from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the Lecture Theatre, Ground Floor, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong (MTR Tin Hau Station Exit B). It will be conducted in Cantonese with free admission. Interested parties are requested to register with SUCCESS in advance as seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
