The Hospital Authority (HA) today (September 27) participates in a drill on avian influenza – "Exercise CYPRESS", to test the contingency measures of HA Head Office and public hospitals in the management of human cases of avian influenza. The simulated ground movements of the exercise mainly occurred in HA Head Office, Princess Margaret Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The departments involved were Accident & Emergency Department, isolation wards, and the Major Incident Control Centres. Around 400 staff members of HA and public hospitals have taken part in the exercise, which was smoothly completed. The hospitals provided normal patient services during the drill.
Review of the drill will be carried out by HA and the participating hospitals to further enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the contingency measures.
