Housing Authority members continue discussions on rent policy review proposals
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:

Members of the Housing Authority and Subsidised Housing Committee continued their discussions on initial recommendations put forward by the Ad Hoc committee on Review of Domestic Rent Policy at a brain-storming session today (September 22).

"Wide-ranging views were expressed by members on the calculation method of the proposed income index to guide future rent adjustments; different options for adjusting the existing public rental housing rents to come up with a new starting point; and whether the MRIR should be retained as an index for measuring affordability," a spokesman for the Housing Authority said.

"The Ad Hoc Committee will consider these views and submit to the Housing Authority the review report for consideration and endorsement," the spokesman added.
