21 building plans approved in August

    The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in August - 11 on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 13 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial development, and three were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that, when completed, will provide 141,469 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 2,124 units, and 33,627 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 16 building projects.

     The department also issued 11 occupation permits - three on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 50,069 square metres, involving 942 units, and 23,619 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in August totalled about $0.8 billion.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,298 complaints against unauthorised building works in August, and issued 3,794 removal orders on unauthorised works.
