Charismatic trumpeter Chris Botti to perform in October
*******************************************************

Talented trumpeter Chris Botti will give a concert here next month.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Chris Botti concert will be staged at 8pm on October 30 (Monday) at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall. He will perform with his jazz friends ¡V Billy Childs (piano), Mark Whitfield (guitar), Billy Kilson (drums) and Tim Lefebvre (bass).

Botti is a gifted trumpeter, a talented composer, and a charismatic performer who - since the release of his first solo album in 1995 - has created a series of recordings that have made him a virtual genre-of-one in the realm of contemporary jazz. Through his singular combination of lush atmosphere and thoughtful improvisation, Botti has earned both critical acclaim and mainstream appreciation.

In the studio and on stage, Botti has worked with leading singer-songwriters such as Marc Cohn, Joni Mitchell and Natalie Merchant, and as a sideman, he has appeared on dozens of albums, compilations and soundtracks.

Botti's latest album "To Love Again" is a worthy successor to his last RIAA gold-certified album, "When I Fall In Love".  "To Love Again" showcases Botti's inimitable velvet tones and sublime trumpet phrasings on 13 newly recorded pop and jazz standards featuring nine superstar guest vocalists including Sting, Rosa Passos, Michael Buble and Steven Tyler.

Concert tickets for "Chris Botti" priced at $150, $220 and $300  are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients (limited tickets for students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
