Three employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment
**********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 28) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $12,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

Earlier, the MPFA obtained an order for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at around $160,000 against an employer in the District Court. The court issued a judgment against Hin Sum Manpower Company Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $163,230.40, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to four employees of the defendant.

At today's tribunal's hearing, Painting International Management Ltd, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered the employer to pay the MPFA $10,028.26, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other defendant, Hong Kong Hecom (Groups) Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $2,887.50, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the tribunal respectively further awarded payments of $930 for the District Court case and  $80 and $340 for the tribunal cases as costs in respect of the claims.
