Hong Kong residents reminded of personal safety in UK
*****************************************************

In view of reports that the United Kingdom had foiled a terrorist attempt to attack flights from the UK to the USA, a spokesman for the Security Bureau today (August 10) reminded Hong Kong residents travelling to the UK to keep themselves abreast of the developments there and pay attention to personal safety.

The spokesman said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government would continue to closely monitor the situation.

So far, the Immigration Department has not received any request for help from Hong Kong residents. Hong Kong residents who are abroad and need assistance may contact the Chinese Embassy/Consulate-General in their destination or call the Immigration Department's 24-hour hotline at (852) 1868.  The telephone numbers and addresses of the Chinese Embassies/Consulates-General overseas can be obtained from the Department by calling (852) 2824 6111 or (852) 1868.
