Employer ordered to pay $142,000 MPF non-payment

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 8) obtained an order in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions owed to five employees at around $140,000 against an employer.

     The defendant, Mega Sport Products (Hong Kong) Limited, was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $142,845.37, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to five employees of the defendant.

     The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA.  The court further ordered the defendant to pay $3,900 to the MPFA as cost of the claim.
