The new Stanley Public Library is now open for service, offering a comprehensive library service to residents of Stanley.
The Stanley mobile stop will be closed from Saturday (July 29). People are welcome to visit the new Stanley Public Library to borrow, return and renew materials.
Located at upper G/F, Stanley Municipal Services Building, 6 Stanley Market Street, Stanley, the 500-square-metre library has an initial library stock of more than 42,000 items including Chinese and English books, compact discs, a quick reference collection with encyclopedias, dictionaries, and more than 70 newspaper and periodical titles for people of all ages and interests.
Apart from facilities such as an adult lending library, children's library, newspapers and periodicals section, extension activities room, there are 16 computer workstations for Internet, multimedia services and Online Public Access Catalogue.
Book-drop service and two self-service terminals are also available.
The library will also organise extension activities including storytelling for children and book display to promote interest in reading.
Students and members of cultural and educational organisations who want to better understand the library's facilities and services are welcome to contact the library for group visits.
Stanley Public Libraries opens from 10am to 7pm from Mondays to Wednesdays and on Fridays. It closes at 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, 1pm on public holidays and closes all day on Thursdays.
