The Government announced today (July 14) the re-appointment of Ms Vivien Chan to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), and the appointment of Mr Wilfred Wong. These two appointments will be for three years from July 16, 2006 to July 15, 2009.
A Government spokesman said, "We are delighted that Ms Vivien Chan has accepted the reappointment. Ms Chan is also the incumbent Chairman of the Advisory Committee Travel Agents. She has made a significant contribution to the promotion and development of the tourism industry in Hong Kong.
"We welcome Mr Wilfred Wong to the Board. Mr Wong has served on a number of Government advisory boards and his solid experience will help steer the Board in its future initiatives. We look forward to working closely with all members of the HKTB to promote tourism in Hong Kong," the spokesman added.
"We would also like to thank Mr Stanley Ko, who is an outgoing member, for his valuable contribution to the work of the HKTB and the former Hong Kong Tourist Association in the past years," the spokesman said.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board Ordinance provides that the HKTB shall consist of 20 members. The composition of the HKTB with effect from July 16, 2006 will be as follows –
