CPPCC Chairman Mr Jia Qinglin met with dignities from various sectors in Hong Kong at Island Shangri-la Hotel this afternoon (June 28).
He first had lunch with Hong Kong members of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and committee leaders of the CPPCC, and then met with Hong Kong deputies of CPPCC.
Later in the afternoon, Mr Jia attended the Symposium with Business and Professional Sectors presided over by Mr Leung Chun-ying. He listened to the views expressed by the participants.
The highlight of the day's activities was a welcome banquet hosted by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, which was attended by about 420 guests, including representatives of different sectors of the community, Executive and Legislative Councillors.
Before the banquet, Mr Jia met with the Principal Officials of the HKSARG, Executive Councillors, Legislative Council President Mrs Rita Fan and Chief Justice Mr Andrew Li.
Tomorrow, he will attend the "Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao Trade and Economic Co-operation Forum" marking the third anniversary of the signing of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) on the third and last day of his visit to Hong Kong.
