Government follows up traffic accident in Nanning

    The Immigration Department learnt that a 19-member Hong Kong tour group had a traffic accident at Daxin County, Nanning City in Guangxi this afternoon (June 27). The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is actively following up the accident.

     The accident occurred at about 4pm today. There are eight men and 11 women in the group. One of them is the tour leader. The other members are 17 Hong Kong residents and one Mainland resident. According to initial reports, all of them have been sent to a hospital in the vicinity for check-up. Four of them remain hospitalised for further treatment.

     A Government spokesman said that the Immigration Department had liaised with the relevant Mainland authorities via the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong, the travel agent concerned and the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong to follow up the case.

     "The Immigration Department will continue to follow up the case and keep in touch with the victims and their families to provide all practicable assistance," the spokesman said.

     So far, the Immigration Department has received two requests for assistance in relation to the accident.
