The Director of Home Affairs will declare by notice in the Gazette tomorrow (June 23) that the Chief Executive, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 16(2) of the District Councils Ordinance(Cap 547), has appointed Mr Chan Kuen-Kwan as a member of the Sai Kung District Council(SKDC).
Under section 16(2) of the District Councils Ordinance, the Chief Executive may appoint another person to hold office as an appointed member if a vacancy arises from the death of the appointed member.
The office of Mr Chan Kwai-sang, an appointed member of Sai Kung District Council, became vacant after his death on April 4, 2006.
The Chief Executive has appointed Mr Chan Kuen-kwan to hold office as an appointed member of the SKDC for the period from June 16, 2006, to December 31, 2007.
