Firearm seized in Tai Po

Police arrested ten persons and seized a genuine pistol early this (June 13) morning in Tai Po and Kowloon areas.

The suspects were arrested by officers of Regional Crime Unit, New Territories North (RCU/NTN), following intensive investigation into a wounding case occurred in Tuen Mun yesterday (June 12).

Police investigation revealed that two suspects, one of them armed with a pistol-like-object approached a village store situated at Leung Tin Tsuen, Tuen Mun at about 1 am.

One of the suspects used the pistol-like-object to point at the chest of a 50-year-old man who was at that time watching television inside the store.

The 50-year-old man immediately put up a struggle with the suspects with the assistance of other persons inside the store.

The two suspects escaped at once and left behind one bullet and a pistol magazine containing four bullets at scene.

The victim did not report the case to Police until 3 pm on the same day.

At about 5.45 pm, Police received another report that 15 rounds of ammunition were found abandoned inside a hotel room in Tin Shui Wai.

After in-depth investigation into the two reports, RCU/NTN officers arrested two men and two women, aged between 16 and 47, in a residential unit in Tai Po at about 2 am this morning. 70 grams of ketamine were also seized inside the flat.

Police also recovered a pistol hidden underneath a metal drainage cover near a hillside in Tai Wo Estate, Tai Po.

In a follow up operation, RCU/NTN officers further arrested three men and three women, aged between 17 and 27, in Kowloon areas later this morning.

RCU/NTN officers are still detaining all the arrested persons for investigation.
