Medical and nursing staff of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (May 28) distributed health information leaflets in Victoria Park to members of the public, in particular Indonesians in Hong Kong, to remind them to be on guard against avian influenza.
The leaflets, entitled "Avian Flu fact sheet" and "What you need to know to prepare for an influenza pandemic-Tips for Foreign Domestic Helpers" are available in different languages including Indonesian. They contain information on the mode of transmission and symptoms of avian influenza as well as preventive measures. Staff of the CHP also answered questions raised by the public in the park.
Today's exercise was one of the measures to prevent avian influenza in view of the recent human cases of avian influenza in Indonesia.
