The Judiciary announced today (May 26) the appointment of Mr Josiah Lam Wai-kuen as Principal Magistrate. The appointment will take effect from June 1, 2006.
The biographical note of Mr Lam is as follows:
Mr Lam was born in Hong Kong in 1959. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1983 and the City University of Hong Kong in 1997. He also did external studies with the University of London and the People's University of China. He was called to the English Bar and the Hong Kong Bar respectively in 1990 and 1991. He worked as a Court Prosecutor of the Legal Department from 1984 to 1990, and was in private practice from 1991 to 1996. He was appointed Magistrate in 1997.
