The Government today (May 19) announced the appointment of Mr Humphrey Choi, Mr Locky Chu Kwan-lam, Mr Tom Tang Chung-yen and Mr Wong Ming-yam as board members of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) for a period of two years from July 1, 2006.
The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Joseph W P Wong, welcomed the appointments.
"We are confident that these new members, with their impressive expertise and knowledge, will help the corporation to enhance Hong Kong's position as a regional centre for innovation and technology," he said.
HKSTPC, which commenced operation on May 7, 2001, manages the Science Park, three industrial estates and a technology centre and supports innovation and technology development in Hong Kong. It provides a comprehensive range of services to cater for the needs of industry at various stages, ranging from nurturing technology start-ups through the incubation programme, providing premises and services in the Science Park for applied research and development activities, creating and sustaining a design cluster in the InnoCentre, to providing land in the industrial estates for production.
Together with an official member appointed on an ex-officio basis, the board of directors of the corporation comprises 15 members, including the chairman. The membership of the full board of directors is as follows -
