Action taken against rest day breaches
**************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (April 25) reminded operators of live poultry retail outlets to observe Rest Day conditions, or they would risk having their licences/tenancies cancelled or terminated.

¡@¡@ The appeal was made after FEHD officers today, acting on a complaint, found a fresh provision shop (FPS), at Market Stall No. 62, Wong Chuk Hang Estate, Aberdeen, keeping live poultry on a Rest Day.

Eleven live chickens found in the FPS were seized by the department for disposal.

¡@¡@ According to the licensing conditions and tenancy agreements, no live poultry should be kept at the premises on a Rest Day while business should be suspended for carrying out thorough cleaning and disinfection.

¡@¡@ "Keeping live chickens is a breach of Rest Day conditions and the department will consider cancelling the licence of the FPS in question," an FEHD spokesman said.
