Regarding the male psychiatric ward in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) in which there were six patients presenting with diarrhea and/or vomiting earlier, the hospital has the following announcement :
Of the six patients presented with symptoms of diarrohea and/or vomiting, four patients were found positive to Norovirus and one patient found negative. Laboratory investigation and result for the remaining patient were pending. All six patients have stopped diarrohea and/or vomiting and are in stable condition.
PYNEH has stepped up infection control measures in the ward and would continue to monitor the situation.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
