Appointments to Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education

    The Government today (April 19) announced the appointment of a new member to the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) from now to 31 March 2008. Twelve members were re-appointed for the same period. A list of the newly appointed and re-appointed members is as follows -

     The committee also includes representatives from the Home Affairs Bureau, Education and Manpower Bureau, Information Services Department, Department of Justice, Social Welfare Department, Hong Kong Police Force, Radio Television Hong Kong and Independent Commission Against Corruption.

    The CPCE is a non-statutory advisory body tasked with the promotion of civic education outside schools through a range of publicity and educational programmes. It commissions research studies on different aspects of civic education, works in partnership with other non-governmental organisations on specific promotion projects, and operates funding schemes to sponsor non-governmental organisations in carrying out civic education projects.
