Restrictions on French poultry meat/product imports partially lifted
****************************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (April 12) that restrictions imposed earlier on poultry meat/product imports (including goose livers) from France would be partially lifted with immediate effect.

"Having considered all the information, including the control measures taken by France following an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in a turkey farm on February 23, we decide to resume the processing of applications for poultry meat/product imports from France, except for four areas, namely Ain, Saone-et-Loire, Rhone and Isere," a department spokesman said.

"Restrictions are not lifted for these four areas as they are still under surveillance in connection with the outbreak," the spokesman said.
