CHP notified that the human avian flu case in Shanghai was confirmed

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health received notification from the Ministry of Health this evening (March 24) confirming the suspected human case of avian influenza H5N1 in Shanghai.

The confirmed case involved a 29-year-old woman who died on March 21.

CHP will continue to maintain close liaison with the Ministry of Health to obtain more information on the case.
