CE joins students in garden tour at Government House (with photos)
***********************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (March 11) gave a group of secondary school students a tour of the garden of Government House.

The Chief Executive and the students admired the blossoming azaleas and other springtime flowers. Mr Tsang told the students the history and characteristics of Government House which has been declared an historical monument.

¡§I am very happy to have the opportunity to enjoy the blossoming flowers with the youngsters and to learn from them more about their daily lives and the problems they encounter in their studies,¡¨ Mr Tsang said.

The students came from 10 schools in the New Territories.

The public will also have a chance from 10am to 5pm tomorrow (March 12) to stroll through the Government House garden and admire the flowers. It will be the first time Government House has been open to the public since renovation work was completed.

As in previous years, visitors are requested to enter by the east gate at Upper Albert Road and leave by the main gate via the passageway of the Main Building. On the way out, visitors will pass by certain rooms in the Main Building where the Chief Executive receives dignitaries.

Visitors are advised not to travel by private car. Depending on the length of the queue, the Police may announce a cut-off time for lining up outside Government House to ensure that everybody in the queue can gain entrance in time.
