30 nominations for education council poll
*****************************************

The Education and Manpower Bureau has received 30 nominations for the seventh election to the Council on Professional Conduct in Education. The nomination period expired yesterday (March 7).

"These nominations comprise 14 teacher-nominated seats and 16 organisation-nominated seats," a bureau spokesman said today.

He added that the Permanent Secretary for Education and Manpower would appoint the Principal Assistant Secretary (Professional Development and Training) and two lay members to the Council, bringing the total number of members to 24.

Voting for teacher-nominated categories will take place at schools on April 25. All serving regular registered teachers, permitted teachers and government school teachers are eligible to vote.

For the organisation-nominated categories that are being contested, eligible education organisations will be informed to submit their votes before 10am on April 27.

Details of election procedures will be sent to schools and education organisations shortly.
