Three public health professionals from the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health left for Guangzhou this morning (March 6) to meet their Guangdong counterparts on issues relating to the prevention and control of human infections with avian influenza.
The visit followed the confirmation yesterday by the Ministry of Health of a fatal human avian flu H5N1 case in Guangdong.
During the one-day visit, the CHP delegation will be meeting experts of the Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention of Guangdong Province to exchange views and share information on epidemiological and laboratory findings of the fatal case.
The delegation comprises Principal Medical and Health Officer Dr SK Chuang, Head of Public Health Laboratory Services Branch Dr Wilina Lim and Senior Medical and Health Officer Dr Edwin Tsui.
