Dead chicken and Japanese White-eye tested positive for H5N1 virus
************************************************************

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said today (February 10) that the dead chicken found in Tuen Mun and the Japanese White-eye in Mong Kok were confirmed to be H5N1 positive after a series of laboratory tests.

Following public referrals, the dead chicken was collected by AFCD staff on February 4 near a lamp post at Wu Tai Circuit whereas the Japanese White-eye was collected on February 6 at Diocesan Boy's School.

A department spokesman reminded the public to observe good personal hygiene.

"They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them," he said.
