CE moves into Government House today (with photos)
**************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, and Mrs Tsang take up residence at Government House today (January 12).

For operational efficiency, most staff of the Chief Executive's Office will also be accommodated in the Government House compound. The Chief Executive's Office will start operation at Government House on Monday (January 16).

Renovation works to upgrade the facilities at Government House for use as an official residence and an office commenced in July 2005 and were completed in early January this year.  The structure, layout and partitioning of the building have been preserved as much as possible in order to retain the historic character of Government House.

Construction works of Government House started in 1851 and took four years to complete.  It has been a declared monument since 1995 under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance.  Government House was formerly the official residence and office of 25 Hong Kong Governors.
