Notification of human avian flu case

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health was notified today (December 29) by the Ministry of Health confirming a human case of avian influenza H5N1 involving a 41-year-old woman in Fujian Province.
A CHP spokesman said the woman developed symptoms on December 6 and died on December 21.
The CHP will maintain close liaison with the Ministry of Health to obtain more information on the case.
