Drug abusers in the Mainland sent back to HK
********************************************

The Public Security Bureau of Guangdong Province (GD PSB) repatriated 11 Hong Kong residents arrested in the Mainland for drug abuse offences back to Hong Kong this (December 19) afternoon.

Hong Kong Police assisted and facilitated the handing over of these persons via the boundary control point on the Huanggang side.  Police have taken the opportunity to spread anti-drug message to these people, reiterating that it is an offence to abuse drugs whether in Hong Kong or in the Mainland.

With the approach of Christmas and New Year holidays, public visiting entertainment premises are expected to increase, Police will also like to remind the public that Hong Kong Police will continue to tackle cross-boundary drugs abuse with the Mainland counterparts.

Hong Kong residents are also urged to abide by the laws and regulations of the concerned jurisdiction no matter where they are staying.

The returned of the 11 persons aged between 19 and 35 marked the second batch of drug abusers being repatriated by the GD PSB in the past three weeks. The previous batch of eight abusers was sent back to Hong Kong on November 29.
