Notification of human avian flu case

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health was notified today (December 15) by the Ministry of Health confirming a human case of avian influenza H5N1 involving a 35-year-old man in Jiangxi Province.
A CHP spokesman said the man developed symptoms on December 4. He is now under treatment in a local hospital. It is reported that the man had contacts with poultry before onset of the disease.
The CHP will maintain close liaison with the Ministry of Health to obtain the latest situation.
