Notification of human avian flu case received

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health was notified today (December 6) by the Ministry of Health confirming a human case of avian influenza involving a 10-year-old girl in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
A CHP spokesman said the girl developed symptoms on November 23. She suffered from fever and pneumonia. She is now under treatment in a local hospital.
The Government will closely monitor the situation and put in place further measures as and when necessary, the spokesman said.
