A briefing for the ground floor business operators and management offices of commercial buildings along, and in the vicinity of, the procession routes within Causeway Bay and Wan Chai in connection with the WTO Hong Kong Ministerial Conference was held today (December 1).
More than 150 participants attended the briefing given by the Deputy District Commander (Wan Chai), Mr Kenneth Li; Chief Inspector, Enforcement & Control, Hong Kong Island, Mr Michael Kao; and the Chief Transport Officer of Transport Department, Mr Charles Wu. They were briefed on the details of the procession routes and the associated transport and traffic arrangements to be introduced.
Furthermore, Mr Li gave advice on the security measures that the business operators could take to protect their interests. There was also a Q&A session.
Over the past 10 months, the WTO Hong Kong Ministerial Conference Co-ordination Office (MCO) and the Police have conducted a total of 45 briefings for the District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees as well as residents and business organisations in the most affected districts, namely, Wan Chai, Central & Western, Eastern, Yau Tsim Mong and Kowloon City.
In addition to these briefings, the MCO and the Police have also organised 31 briefings for different business sectors to provide advice relating to their respective sector. These included banking, chambers of commerce, financial industry, insurance industry, tourism industry, hotel industry, food and beverage industry, retail industry and logistics industry.
Today's briefing was organised by the MCO in the Leighton Hill Community Hall.
The WTO Hong Kong Ministerial Conference will be held from December 13 to 18 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
