Unauthorized influenza vaccines

In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Department of Health (DH) today (November 30) said that it has come to the department's notice that some medical practitioners have been offered influenza vaccines which are of unknown source and have not been authorized for import.
The DH has issued a letter to all doctors today reminding them that pharmaceutical products of unknown source are potentially harmful in that their safety, efficacy and quality cannot be ascertained.
The DH is conducting investigation into complaints about suspected supply of unauthorized influenza vaccines.
