
Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

An employer was ordered to pay some $190,000 for nine employees in the District Court, who were owed MPF contributions by the employer.
The District Court last Friday (November 25) issued a judgment against an employer. The defendant, Cheung Tim Cheung trading as Tsui Fu Hin Restaurant, was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $196,479.17, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to nine employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further ordered the defendant to pay $930 as the cost of the claim.
