"2006 Civic Education Calendar" available free of charge

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE):

     The ¡§2006 Civic Education Calendar¡¨ produced by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) will be available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis from tomorrow (November 29).

     Distribution points include Home Affairs Department Public Enquiry Service Centres, public libraries, city halls and town halls, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Museum of History, and the Civic Education Resource Centre, 2/F Tung Sun Commercial Centre, 200 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai.

     The calendar includes drawings specially designed by the local famous artist, Ah Chung, to illustrate core civic values including social harmony, volunteerism, corporate citizenship, respect for human rights, and awareness of national identity.

     The CPCE will also organise three calendar autograph sessions by Ah Chung tomorrow (November 29). Copies of the calendar will be available at the autograph sessions. Details are as follows:

Venue: Civic Education Resource Centre, 2/F Tung Sun Commercial Centre, 200 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai

Session 2

Time: 3pm ¡V 4pm
Venue: Kowloon Tong MTR Station (near the station control room)

Session 3

Time: 5pm - 6pm
Venue: Star Ferry Pier, Central (near the Central Post Office)

     The CPCE hopes the drawings and messages in the calendar will stimulate thoughts and reflection on civic values among the public.  It also plans to conduct a series of educational activities in 2006 along the theme of civic values.
