The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 21) pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $130,000 on behalf of seven employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At today's hearing, the three defendants, including Hin Sum Manpower Company Limited, Qiwi Company Limited and First Rate Logistics Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $48,931.02, $22,470.00 and $5,904.66 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other three defendants, including Hui Kam Shun trading as Speed Time Watches Company, Inarch Collections Limited trading as Super Jockey and Ngan Siu Leung trading as Leung Kee Transport, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $22,025.44, $18,975.02 and $15,253.90 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $160, $110, $90, $170, $110 and $210 as the costs in respect of the claims.
Hin Sum Manpower Company Limited pleaded guilty at Kwun Tong Magistracy earlier to nine counts of failing to make MPF contributions on time and was fined $21,000.
