The Hospital Authority (HA) will organise a territory-wide fund-raising campaign to raise funds for the HA Charitable Foundation (HACF) to help the needy patients.
Since its establishment in 1996, the funds raised by the HACF are mainly used to give tangible help to patients through the Samaritan Fund. It also supports activities of patient groups, promotes health education and patient care empowerment programmes, and develops hospital volunteer services in Hong Kong. Health InfoWorld, the executive arm of the Hospital Authority's health promotion is one of the Foundation's major beneficiaries.
The HA "Spring and Strings Concert for Health" will launch the fund-raising campaigns for the HACF. It will be held on January 22, 2006 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. In addition to raising funds for the HACF, the proceeds of the concert will go to the Samaritan Fund, the concert also aims at commemorating the 15th Anniversary of the HA, and to thank the community, donors and staff of the HA for their unstinting support to the HACF.
The concert consists of a matinˆme performance at 3pm and an evening performance at 8pm. It will feature some of the best known prized artists across Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, including Mr He Zhan-hao (¦ó¥e»¨) who composed the Butterfly Lovers Concerto¡i±ç¯¬¨ó«µ¦±¡jand several distinguished guzheng (¥jºå) and erhu (¤GJ) recitalists. Celebrated Cantonese opera singer Ms Koi Ming-fai (»\»ï·u) and other internationally renowned musicians in Mainland and Taiwan will also be performing at the concert. HA Chinese Orchestra and Fire Services Chinese Orchestra will play an accompaniment.
Mr Anthony Wu JP, Chairman of the HA, said at the press conference today (November 21) that, "the presence of the beneficiaries and community leaders on the concert will fully demonstrate the strong partnership between the HA and the community in caring for the needy. We target to raise a substantial amount of funds from a wide cross section of the community. Everybody's invaluable support, irrespective of the amount, will help us build the funds."
Tickets will be available at all URBTIX outlets starting from December 8, 2005. Attending the evening concert will be representatives of donor organisations, Government officials, community leaders, corporate chief executives, celebrities, philanthropists, sponsors and volunteers, who have devoted their time and unfailing support to the HACF.
To sustain this territory-wide fund-raising campaign for the HACF, there will be extensive promotion at the community; and donation boxes will be set up at all HA hospitals to encourage donations and promote ticket sales. A clause of appeal will be inserted in the hospital receipt to encourage donation from the discharging patients and their families.
