¡@¡@The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (November 16) warned all fresh provision shop and market meat stall operators that they should not sell chilled meat as fresh meat, or their licences/tenancy agreements would be cancelled or terminated.
¡@¡@During blitz operations conducted shortly after 6:30 am today, FEHD officers found two fresh provision shops (FPSs) and one market stall in Yuen Long selling chilled mutton as fresh mutton, and one FPS in Sha Tin selling imported chilled pork as fresh pork.

¡@¡@In Yuen Long, officers searched the stall in Tung Yick Market and two FPSs at 14 Yuen Long New Street and 2 Mau Tan Street respectively and confiscated 30 kilogrammes of mutton. In the FPS at 7 Chik Fai Street, Sha Tin, 280 kilogrammes of pork were seized.

¡@¡@"We will consider cancelling the licences of the meat shops and terminating the tenancy agreement of the market stall as the operators have breached the licensing condition/tenancy agreement which prohibits the sale of chilled meat as fresh meat," an FEHD spokesman said.
¡@¡@The department will continue to closely monitor the sale of meat at the retail level and take stringent enforcement actions to safeguard food safety and public health.
¡@¡@"Anyone who has doubts about meat being sold at retail outlets should call the department's hotline at 2868 0000," he said.
