
21 pollution convictions in October

Twenty-one convictions were recorded last month (October) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Seven of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, six under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, five under the Noise Control Ordinance and three under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in October was $30,000, assessed against a company that imported controlled waste without a permit.
