Police are investigating a fatal accident in Sha Tau Kok this (November 13) morning in which two men aged 79 and 81 were killed.
Shortly after 9.50 am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 61-year-old woman was travelling along Sha Tau Kok Road towards Sha Tau Kok. When reaching near the junction with Luk Keng Road, the PLB reportedly overtook some other vehicles ahead and collided with a medium goods vehicle (MGV) with trailer travelling along Sha Tau Kok Road in the opposite lane towards Sheung Shui.
The 37-year-old MGV driver, four male and one female passengers of the PLB aged between 50 and 81 were injured and rushed to the North District Hospital (NDH). The 61-year-old PLB driver was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and was later transferred to the Prince of Wales Hospital.
Among the six injured persons sent the NDH, two male PLB passengers aged 79 and 81 were later certified dead at 10.20 am and 10.58 am respectively.
The Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North will take over the case for investigation.
