CSD Autumn Fair held today (with photos)
****************************************

The Correctional Services Department Sports Association held its 53rd Autumn Fair today (November 12), providing an opportunity for the public to buy products manufactured by inmates of penal institutions and share the carnival-like mood in Stanley.

Products manufactured by inmates of penal institutions, including arts and handicrafts, toys and rattan and wooden furniture, were on sale at about 40 stalls. All proceeds from the sales will go to charities including services for prisoners' welfare.

To mark the establishment of the "Correctional Services Staff Volunteer Group" in February 2005, the theme of this year's fair is "We Care, We Serve".

"We Care" is the departmental motto that signifies the spirit and importance of its work. "We Serve" is the commitment to serving the community through volunteer work.

Apart from stalls, the fair featured a rich entertainment programme including an auction, international cuisine competition, performance of guard dogs, marching band display and dancing performance. Four contestants from this year's Miss Hong Kong pageant also attended.

The fair, first held in 1953, has been a long-standing favourite with members of the public. This meaningful event also provides an opportunity for prisoners to contribute to the community, with their accomplishments proudly displayed for the public's selection.
