MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for seven employees
*************************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 11) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $130,000 on behalf of seven employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing the defendants, Hin Sum Manpower Company Limited and Grammy Entertainment Enterprises Limited trading as Grammy's Lounge, did not dispute the amounts claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $27,435.70 and $10,006.13 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other three defendants, Fine Projects Limited, Inarch Collections Limited trading as Super Jockey and Casablanca Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $59,752.74, $33,652.68 and $3,241.88 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $110, $315, $370, $400 and $210 as costs in respect of the claims.

Hin Sum Manpower Company Limited pleaded guilty at Kwun Tong Magistracy earlier to six counts of failing to make MPF contributions on time and was fined $21,000.
