******************************************************

The Hospital Authority (HA) this morning (November 8) held a drill ¡V "Exercise Flamingo" to test the contingency measures of HA Head Office and the hospital clusters in response to an avian influenza pandemic.  The simulated ground movements of the exercise occurred mainly in Tuen Mun Hospital and United Christian Hospital.  The departments involved were Accident & Emergency Department, isolation ward, and the Major Incident Control Centre.  The drill, which lasted for around four hours with more than 200 staff members of HA and public hospitals taking part, was completed smoothly.   The hospitals made special arrangements during the drill, and provision of normal patient services was ensured.

A review of the drill will be carried out by HA to further enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the contingency measures.
