An employer was fined $8,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistracy today (November 8), after being convicted of an offence under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance.
In today's hearing, the defendant, A & A Manufacturing Limited, was fined $8,000 after pleading guilty to the offence of failing to enrol one employee in an MPF scheme.
Meanwhile, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $17,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by his employer.
At today's hearing, Shun Hing Container Company Limited did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $17,405.62, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded a payment of $390 as the cost of the claim.
