Police are appealing for witnesses to a blackmail and explosion with person injured case which occurred at the office of a local Chinese newspaper in Chai Wan yesterday (November 7).
Enquiries revealed that at about 1 pm on November 7, a man wearing a black and white coloured motorcycle helmet had ordered a bouquet of flowers to be delivered together with a wrapped pink gift box from a florist in Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei.
The man, aged about 30, is of medium build and stands at about 1.8 meters. He was last seen wearing a black full face helmet with white stripe on the front, a black T-shirt, a pair of dark coloured jeans and carrying a silver paper bag.
Police are anxious to contact the above mentioned man. Anyone who has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 2860 7820 or 2860 7886.
Police received a report at about 3 pm yesterday that a minor explosion occurred after a small gift box was opened in an office on Ka Yip Street, Chai Wan. Investigating officers, including those from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, were deployed to the scene for investigations and located the box and a letter with threatening message.
A 45-year-old female staff member who opened the gift box suffered slight burnt injuries and another 31-year-old female staff member who felt uneasy after the incident were sent to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment.
Investigations by Regional Crime Unit, Hong Kong Island, are proceeding.
