HA launches Influenza Vaccination Programme

    All 73 General Outpatient Clinics (GOPCs) and all Specialist Outpatient Clinics of the Hospital Authority (HA) have started providing influenza vaccination to the following out-patient clinic patients commencing today (November 7) until end of December:

1. Paediatric outpatients with chronic diseases or on long-term aspirin therapy;
2. Elderly aged 65 or above with chronic diseases;
3. CSSA recipients in the following categories:
i. Persons with chronic diseases of all ages;
ii. Elderly aged 65 or above;
iii. Children aged six to 23 months;
iv. Pregnant women in their 2nd or 3rd trimester with antenatal appointments in public clinics.

     Meanwhile, poultry workers and people who are involved in poultry culling operation, as referred by relevant departments, can also bring along their vaccination authorisation issued by the Government and receive influenza vaccinations in 23 designated GOPCs starting today (November 7).

     Cluster Service Co-ordinator, Family Medicine & Primary Health Care Services, Hong Kong East & West Cluster, Dr Daniel Chu Wai-sing, has reminded eligible patients to attend the clinics and receive vaccination at the time of their pre-scheduled follow-up appointment.  If their follow-up appointment dates fall outside the specified vaccination period between November 7 and the end of December, 2005, they should enquire at the clinics for necessary arrangements.

     As at 5pm today (November 7), around 5,000 eligible patients had received the vaccination at GOPCs.
