The Government issued the following statement today (October 28) on the Legislative Council's debate on the Motion of Thanks on the Policy Address:
The Chief Executive's Policy Address was articulated after thorough review of our past experience and extensive consultation with the public. It has been well received by the community and broad support has been reflected through various opinion polls conducted by media and other organisations.
The Government is therefore puzzled that the Motion of Thanks was not passed in the Legislative Council.
Although disappointed, the Government will nonetheless whole-heartedly implement the people-based policies and initiatives in the Policy Address in a pragmatic manner in our pursuit of "Strong Governance For the People" - the theme of the Policy Address. We are confident we will continue to have community support.
