A fire broke out at a construction site at 18 Hoi Fai Road, Mong Kok, at 12.47am today (October 26). The fire was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 1.46am, and subsequently to a No.4 alarm fire at 2.59am.
The site has seven blocks of 36-storey residential towers under construction.
A large quantity of construction materials on the top floor and roof level of Tower 1 and 2 were severely damaged by the fire. Debris from upper floors ignited and damaged scaffolding and nylon safety nets erected on the external wall on various levels of Tower 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Firemen deployed eights jets and mobilised two breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.
The fire was put out at 9.02am.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
The Fire Services Department believed that the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
